The time has come again for our autumn fundraiser. As always we absolutely depend on this event to help get us through the coming months. Unfortunately, our last newsletter issue did not bring in the financial support we hoped it would, and the summer expenditures have us at a disadvantage. To those of you who were moved by our stories and commentary enough to send a contribution, we offer our sincere thanks.

Our nightly trips to the streets continue, and when you support us you make it possible for us to go where animals need us the most. The neighborhoods along our alley routes are those where drug dealers own the corners and violent crime is an every night occurrence. Spending eight hours a night, six nights a week in these areas means putting ourselves at some risk, but our street teams are comprised of people dedicated to going the extra mile for innocent creatures who have no one else. And, when we look into the faces of the animals who live in filth and face danger from every angle, animals who go for days without a simple drink of water, we could not turn our backs on these noble souls who would be left with no one on their side. They are worth our every effort.

So, help keep us in the streets where the animals need us -- purchase raffle tickets! Our prizes are modest and we still use the carnival tickets, but please bear with us, this is what we can afford. Your assistance in making this raffle event a resounding success may mean a world of difference to an animal who is on the streets right now, looking for water or a bit of food, or someplace to birth her young. Please don’t forget them; though you do not see them, we see them every night. Thousands of them, each an individual, each worthy of our compassion.

This may sound trite, but it is the truth: by purchasing raffle tickets you will (in some small way) be helping to make the world a better place.
